Oumar Sall

Oumar Sall, leading singer/songwriter of the group Tukuleur, is a World Musician who is forging a new genre of blended world music.

Combining traditional African cultural music with the driving rhythm of urban soul, Tukuleur untraditionally weaves a multitude of traditional world languages and styles into a variety of compositions.

Whether singing in French, English, Spanish or African dialects of Fulani (Peul), Mandinque and Soninke, Tukuleur captivates audiences with lyrics such as "The world is on the move, let's follow the worldwide groove," encouraging people to embrace peace and understanding through common desires.

And it is this type of style and sophistication that Tukuleur continues to express through their message of hope and tolerance in their newest release of ‘You Bring Us Hope,’ composed specially for TMP.

Tukuleur started life in 1993 and achieved a hit record with a remake of Toto's song "Afrika" in 2000, released on Putumayo Records. After a decision to musically change directions, the band has currently regrouped with a more contemporary and fresh new sound. Tukuleur will release their new album in 2009.

The goal of Tukuleur is to express their music, their enriching messages of hope and tolerance and to find their world audience.
